Have you ever prayed for something… and then found yourself wondering if the answer was really what you expected?

That’s exactly how I felt this week.

I started a new job at a bagel shop, grateful for the opportunity and hopeful about what was ahead.

Then reality set in.

The mornings started much earlier than I imagined. The shifts were longer than I expected, and I found out I would be making $11 an hour.

If I’m being honest, I drove home disappointed.

For a little while, I questioned everything.

Was this really the next step?

Had I somehow taken a step backward instead of forward?

As I sat quietly with those thoughts, something came to mind.

Maybe I wasn’t taking a step backward at all.

Maybe I was simply taking the next step.

There is a difference.

Sometimes we think moving forward should feel exciting. We imagine that when God answers our prayers, everything will immediately fall into place.

But life doesn’t always work that way.

Sometimes moving forward looks like getting up before sunrise.

Sometimes it looks like learning a new job.

Sometimes it looks like doing work that doesn’t feel glamorous while trusting that it still has purpose.

And maybe that’s okay.

This week reminded me that my value isn’t determined by an hourly wage.

It isn’t determined by a job title.

It isn’t determined by whether everything turns out the way I hoped.

My circumstances may change…

But my worth never does.

I still believe God is writing my story.

I still believe better days are ahead.

I still believe that every small step matters, even when I don’t fully understand where it’s leading.

Maybe this season isn’t just about where I’m working.

Maybe it’s about who I’m becoming.

If you’re walking through a season that feels disappointing, I hope you’ll remember this…

Don’t confuse where you are today with where you’ll be forever.

Some of the most meaningful chapters of our lives begin in places we never expected.

So tomorrow, I’ll set my alarm.

I’ll get up before the sun.

I’ll go back to work.

Not because I’ve settled for less…

But because I’ve chosen not to let disappointment steal my hope.

I’m trusting that every faithful step is leading me closer to the life God has planned for me.

And for today…

That’s enough.

💜 A Thought to Leave You With

Disappointment doesn’t mean God has forgotten you.

Sometimes it simply means He’s still writing the story.

Don’t stop believing just because you can’t see the ending yet.

With love,

Katrina ❤️
