For the days when life feels like too much…
Maybe nothing huge happened today.
Maybe it was just one more thing.
One more worry.
One more disappointment.
One more unanswered question.
And somehow, that one little thing was enough to bring the tears.
Not because you’re weak.
Because your heart was already tired.
Sometimes we carry so much for so long that we don’t even realize how heavy everything has become.
We get up. We do what needs to be done. We take care of people. We worry about money, work, family, relationships, our future…and all the things we can’t control.
And we keep going.
Until one day, something happens that normally wouldn’t completely break us down.
But this time it does.
And suddenly we’re crying over something that doesn’t seem big enough to explain all those tears.
But maybe you’re not crying about that one thing.
Maybe you’re crying about everything underneath it.
Maybe you’re tired of wondering when life is going to get easier.
Maybe you’re tired of being disappointed.
Maybe you’re tired of worrying about what happens next.
Maybe you’re tired of feeling like you’re always trying to recover from something.
Maybe you’re tired of being the strong one.
Or maybe you’re simply tired of trying so hard.
If that’s where you are tonight, I don’t want to tell you to cheer up.
I don’t want to give you a list of things you should be doing to feel better.
And I’m definitely not going to tell you that you should be grateful because somebody somewhere has it worse.
Sometimes life hurts.
Sometimes our hearts hurt.
And sometimes we need to be allowed to say:
This is really hard right now.
Maybe tonight you don’t need answers.
Maybe you just need someone to understand.
Someone to check on you.
Someone to remind you that you matter.
Someone to say, I’ve been thinking about you. How are you really doing?
Because sometimes one of the hardest parts of struggling is feeling like nobody sees how hard you’re trying just to keep going.
But if that’s you tonight, I want you to know something.
I see you. 💗
I may not know your name.
I may not know what happened today.
I don’t know what you’ve been carrying, how long you’ve been carrying it, or how many times you’ve had to pull yourself back together.
But I know what it feels like to have a tired heart.
And I know that when you’re in the middle of one of those moments, it can feel like you’re always going to feel this way.
But feelings can change.
Sometimes nothing around us changes right away.
The problem may still be there.
The unanswered question may still be unanswered.
The person we wish would call may still not call.
Tomorrow may still feel uncertain.
But the heaviness of this particular moment can pass.
Sometimes we cry.
Sometimes we talk to somebody.
Sometimes we pray.
Sometimes we eat something, get comfortable, and give ourselves permission to stop trying to solve everything for the night.
And little by little, we start to feel like ourselves again.
That doesn’t mean what hurt us wasn’t real.
It doesn’t mean everything is suddenly okay.
It just means the wave passed.
And if you’re in the middle of that wave right now, please don’t convince yourself that the way you feel in this moment is the way you’re going to feel forever.
Give yourself some time.
You don’t have to figure out your whole life tonight.
You don’t have to know what’s going to happen tomorrow.
You don’t have to fix every relationship, solve every problem, or answer every question.
Tonight, you can simply take care of you.
Eat something.
Drink some water.
Cry if you need to.
Pray if you want to.
Call or text someone you trust.
Put on something comfortable.
Get underneath the covers.
And if all you managed to do today was make it through a really difficult day…
that counts too.
And please, if your heart ever becomes so tired that you start wondering whether you want to be here anymore, don’t sit alone with those thoughts.
Tell somebody.
Reach for someone.
Let another human being into that moment with you.
You deserve to be heard before you make any decisions about a life you’re viewing through the pain of one incredibly difficult moment.
And if tonight you’re not looking for advice…
If you don’t need someone to fix you…
If you just need somewhere you can be exactly as you are…
Come sit with me for a while. 💗
There’s a chair for you here.
You don’t have to explain yourself.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
You don’t even have to feel hopeful yet.
Just sit.
Breathe.
Let tonight be tonight.
Tomorrow can wait until tomorrow.
And before you leave, there’s one thing I hope you’ll carry with you:
No matter how lonely this season feels…
No matter how tired your heart has become…
No matter how much you wish someone understood what you’ve been carrying…
You are not alone.
Love,
Katrina ❤️
