Starting over is not something I ever imagined I would have to learn how to do more than once.
If someone had told me years ago that I would lose things I thought would always be part of my life, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. Yet here I am, discovering that sometimes life takes us down roads we never expected.
Starting over isn’t glamorous.
It doesn’t always look like a fresh beginning with everything falling perfectly into place. Sometimes it looks like crying in your car. Sometimes it looks like asking for help when your pride tells you not to. Sometimes it looks like waking up every morning and simply deciding not to give up.
I’ve learned that starting over doesn’t mean I failed.
It means I’m still willing to believe that God isn’t finished with my story.
There have been days when I’ve questioned everything. Days when I wondered if I’d ever feel secure again. Days when I couldn’t see what God was doing.
But I’ve also learned something beautiful.
God often does His deepest work in the seasons we would never choose for ourselves.
He’s teaching me to trust Him more than my circumstances.
He’s teaching me that my identity isn’t found in where I live, what I own, or what people think of me.
It’s found in Him.
Every small step forward matters.
Some days my victory is simply getting out of bed.
Some days it’s choosing hope instead of fear.
Some days it’s smiling again.
Healing isn’t measured by giant leaps. It’s measured by faithful steps.
If you’re starting over too, I want you to know you’re not alone.
Maybe your story looks different than mine, but the feelings are often the same.
The fear.
The uncertainty.
The loneliness.
The hope that somehow tomorrow will be better.
It will.
Not because life suddenly becomes easy, but because you’ll become stronger than you ever imagined.
And one day you’ll look back and realize that what felt like the end was actually the beginning of something beautiful.
One step at a time is still forward.
Thank you for being here and sharing this journey with me. My prayer is that every post on I Heart Me by Katrina reminds you that your story isn’t over, your past doesn’t define you, and there is always hope for a new beginning.
